After my horrible experiences with the Black ; Decker TRO700S 4-Slice Toast-R-Oven, Stainless Steel, I swore I wouldn't buy another Black ; Decker toaster oven. But when I was checking out several toaster ovens at Bed Bath ; Beyond, low and behold there was this particular model available. Compared to the other models around, this one had the best combination of features and size for the price. The Krups convection oven felt cheaply made, unwarranted for the price. The other oven I considered, a Kitchen Aid convection oven, was very well made and looked great, except it did not have a convection feature and the elements were poorly exposed. I wanted to check out the Sanyo SK-VF7S Digital Convection Oven, Stainless Steel Finish that has been getting great reviews, but unfortunately this store didn't carry it. So, I decided to take a chance on "fool me thrice, shame on me". At least I could take it back to the local store if it didn't work out.
This Black ; Decker oven is much better made than the TRO700S. It's also a bit bigger and has more solid feeling controls. It's also digital, so you don't have an annoying ticking sound while cooking. It also seems more robust than the Sanyo, potentially delivering more value for the money.
The Good: Excellent design, versatile tray system, non-stick inner surface, decent crumb guards over the heating elements, great capacity (it'll even accommodate a 12" pizza), wide viewing area, and even cooking. There are a lot of nice functions, including "bagel"--the bottom heats at half the top temperature, so it doesn't crisp the bottom of the bagel too much (nice). The exterior does get hot, like most toaster ovens, and its even worse with a brushed steel surface; however, the right side (where the convection fan is located) tends not to get scalding hot. The BROIL mode works well, despite not having the convection feature functioning. And although the toasting function takes long to work, it does brown the toast evenly.
The Not-so-good: The digital controls are confusing and take some time to figure out. The directions are OK, not great--but you definitely need to read them. The display does not have a clock, as one usually finds on digital appliances, but this is OK--once you realize it. The unit beeps at you when you select a cooking function, and it's rather loud. The convection feature only works in BAKE mode, not BROIL--I found this strange and disappointing. When you use it, there is no count-down indication of toasting progress (unlike with timed cooking/baking); you just have to trust that it will stop at the right time. Lastly, this product is designed more as an oven than a toaster--a single piece of toast takes about 50% longer to toast than in a conventional toaster. However, the workaround is to move the shelf to the upper position and then just flip the toast once it has browned on one side. Only a minor inconvenience. Also, there is no backlight to the LCD display, so if you're cooking at night in low light it's a little difficult to see the display details.
Overall, I give this unit a thumbs up... for now. I trust that since I didn't find any initial defects, it should operate well going forward. It is not a perfect oven, but then it seems NO company out there is bothering to perfect the convection/toaster oven. Sometimes I think I should go into product design, as I see so many flaws that can be easily avoided. Anyway, you won't go wrong getting this oven. :-)
NOTE: I really recommend seeing a toaster oven in person before buying it. This way you can get a sense of how it looks, feels, and operates. It's that tangible experience you just can't get on-line. Also, you can save more buying it in person (I paid $67 with tax, at BB;B with a 20% off coupon). However, if you aren't able to get to a store that has the appliances you're interested in, then you have to rely on what you see on-line. I hope my review helps you in your decision.

I recently purchased this oven and so far, I am quite pleased with it. For the price, it has many more features than ovens that are substantially more expensive.
The oven feels solid and well built and looks very nice, the brushed stainless steel and black trim are quite sharp and it blends in easily with most modern kitchen appliances. There is no internal oven light but the elements glow enough for you to view the food through the clear glass front making it easy to check on the progress without opening the oven door.
It is a bit larger than a standard toaster oven but can fit substantially larger items inside, including a 12 inch pizza. You should check the dimensions of the appliance before purchasing to make sure it fits your needs and your counters for that matter.
The controls are mostly intuitive but you may have to fiddle around with it a few times before you get the hang of it. There are quite a few different options but they are self explanatory for the most part. The buttons are clearly marked with letters and a picture, which also shows up in the display when activated. The display is bright and easy to read with the digital timer and temperature setting flashing consecutively. The timer can be set for up to two hours, which is a rare find. The oven beeps with each button push and also beeps 3 times when the timer expires. It's loud but not obnoxiously so. The oven temperature can be adjusted by 5 degree increments which believe it or not is quite rare. Many other manufacturers have preset temperatures that don't always make sense and can not be altered, which is far from practical.
The oven preheats quickly and seems to maintain a steady temperature with or without the fan. The fan is surprisingly quiet especially compared with some of the more expensive ovens. Food seems to cook evenly though you do need to make sure you keep items at least 2 inches from the top element or it will burn. Larger items will typically need to be rotated at least once during cooking to ensure even browning. Toasting takes a bit longer than a regular toaster so those of you new to toaster ovens, please keep this in mind. This oven does a nice job of toasting though you may need to adjust the rack and you do need to keep an eye on it until you find the setting that suits you best. The bagel feature is also nice as it toasts the top while only warming the bottom.
The pans included with the oven are the standard broiler pan and baking tray as well as a pizza pan. The pans are a bit flimsy but many regular baking pans will easily fit into this oven and produce better results. Using the pizza pan for baking pizza will result in a very soft crust. If you want it crispy, bake directly on the rack. The rack can be adjusted to four different positions which allows for a bit more flexibility in terms of what you can fit inside the oven. Since the rack is adjustable it is not attached to the door so you have to manually slide it out to remove items but the door opens completely and lies flat so the access to the interior of the oven is easier.
The oven does get quite hot but hey, it is an oven. Just make sure the oven is located in a place where hands would not come into contact with the sides, front and especially the top. Take note of the height of the oven and make sure that there is adequate clearance on the sides and top of the oven before purchasing. The bottom of the oven does not get hot so countertops should not be damaged. The glass door also gets quite hot but the handle remains cool.
The crumb tray pulls straight out from the front and is completely flat so clean up is a snap. The interior of the oven is also easy to clean as is the outside of the oven. The power cord is a bit longer than usual which gives you added flexibility with placing the oven but you have to be careful the cord does not touch the sides of the oven as again, they do get quite hot.
All and all I found this oven to be very much worth the price. It has many more features than more expensive ovens. It looks nice and so far, seems to work quite well.

I just picked this up at the store the other day, and thought I'd write a review because it has some big pros and cons. As for the pros, this thing does actually work...really well. I used to have a Kitchenaid blender for about triple what I paid for this Oster, and it left chunks in my fruit smoothies no matter how much I blended. It also leaked a bit. The Oster blends frozen fruit and berries to a smooth consistency without ANY chunks whatsoever. I was kinda amazed because I figured if my expensive blender left chunks, then that was the norm for all blenders. So I'm very happy that it does the job very well. However, it does have a couple downfalls. There is only one speed, a pulse, and the off setting. This doesn't bother me too much though, because as long as it blends my smoothies smooth, then I'm happy no matter what the speed is. This blender's big downfall is its noise: this thing is louder than hell. It's about as loud as a gas powered leaf blower. It actually hurts my ears, and I'm seriously considering wearing earplugs to make morning smoothies. The loudness isn't the whole issue either. It has this high-pitched whine that just really irritates my ears. I guess that's why they called it the Beehive Blender...
In conclusion, it's a good blender because it actually does what it's supposed to do. However, BE WARNED: it is VERY LOUD! It will wake your entire house up!

I just got my blender from Amazon. Shipping and packaging were fine. The glass jar is okay, except that the base is thin plastic- they used to be metal. The base of the blender itself also has a plastic collar, and honestly, I can't tell if the "stainless steel" is real or not. Certainly seems cheap. When you turn the unit upside-down, the housing is thin plastic. The worst surprise is when you turn it on. Even empty, the motor sounds terrible. It's really loud and it sounds as though it's trying to blend ball bearings.
Oster used to make terrific blenders here in the states. The one that this one is modeled after is really wonderful and will last fifty years; I'd be surprised if the new ones last six months. I'm packing the one I just bought back in its box and returning it. Then I'll be on the look out for an old Oster. It's truly disappointing that many of the great companies have sold out and make junk now. This grumpy old man has had it.
Here's an update. I was so disappointed with this blender that I found an old Osterizer on Ebay for 30 bucks. It was in mint condition. It's so much better made that it's hard to believe they're the same company. Metal base on the glass, and the blender itself is heavy and solid, the stainless steel is actual, honest-to-god steel, even the collar- which is plastic on the new "retro" version. The best surprise is when you turn it on. It it so much better, quieter, and well-made that I cannot believe it. honestly, the newer "retro" one requires ear protection. and it sounds as though it wouldn't last out the week. Oster, you should be ashamed!
Do yourself a favor, find an old one at a garage sale, Craigslist or Ebay. It'll be a much, much better unit.

We bought this toaster about two months ago, after much research. Our old one was a simple, cheap one from Sunbeam, which lasted about ten years until the lever for toast broke.
I never really wanted a "convection" toaster, but I decided to give it a try because I thought it might save energy when baking. It actually does a very fast job at that, much more efficient than the regular oven we used before.
I used the broiler just once so far and it works well.
Toast is very good: crunchy on the outside, moist inside (but that depends on taste). One gripe is with the knobs, which are hard to grab. The design of the knob is especially annoying in the timer, because it just sort of slides to the desired time, there's no way of precisely selecting the position, like a good stereo knob would. We haven't quite found the best spot on the timer for the perfect toast, I'm having to rely on visual clues and often just take the toast out before the timer rings.
The tray is easy to clean and slides out conveniently.
The hooks on the door hinges that make the rack slide out make it difficult to close the door completely - we decided to fold ours in and not use them, so the door closes correctly.
Be diligent when shopping for this item, prices vary widely from place to place and you may overpay.
P.S.: after about 15 months of using this toaster, we decided to purchase a simple toaster for bread slices and use the B;D as a small oven for other dishes. The bread toaster is faster and the results more reliable. As an oven, the B;D does a great job.

I've been using this oven for over 2 months now,so far so good. For a 6 slice oven its a good size, not too big.The crumb tray slides out completely, that makes it easy to keep the oven clean.
Please take the time to read the manual. It has a couple of good tips about using the oven.
The toast function is fast. It does not use convection feature for toasting.
I've baked eggplant and butternut squash in it. It takes almost the same time as a normal sized oven, but saves a lot of energy and does a good job. The broil feature works well too.
I'm looking forward to baking pizza in it.

I have a classic beehive blender and the original glass jar was dropped and shattered into what must have been thousands of pieces. I was thrilled to find this online and ordered it. However, the glass threads don't fit well into the jar base and it leaks. We could sort of use it, although it is awkward to fit the jar base and replacement glass jar together. However, the other day I noticed a crack at the top of the new glass jar. Sigh. I think I will have to purchase a new blender. I'm not sure why the so-called "replacement" glass jar doesn't fit the base, it's just a bit "off"...but it just doesn't! Disappointing purchase.

Not only do all the parts of this replacement set fit on my Osterizer blender, but this kit includes an ICE CRUSHER blade. The ice-crusher blade not only crushes ice...but it blends far more thoroughly than the orginal, regular blade, which originally came with my Osterizer. The ice-crusher blade looks similar to the regular blade -- but one tine is much, much longer and larger than the other three. This "ice-crusher" blade mixes smoothies and sandwhich spreads far, far more quickly and efficiently than the regular blade. "Not for ice-crushing only"! And all the other equipment comes with it, as well! All just the same as on my original machine -- except that the cover part, here, is of a more flexible plastic, whilst my original was of a hard plastic. But they work exactly the same! Wheeee! : )

This oven does a decent job on pizza except it doesn't cook evenly. You have to spin it 180 degrees to get it cooked evenly. It is noisy and hot. Invariably I burn myself everytime I use it. Overall, a little disappointing.

I purchased this product at Wholesale Liquidators for $50.00. I used this just hours after purchasing. My daughter ; I have been practicing cooking different foods with this for 2 days. We're trying to use all the features utilizing the different heating settings. We're having fun. Unlike some other models the fan is not loud. I'm looking forward to using this oven throughout the summer months.

I bought a cheap plastic blender from Wal-Mart a year ago. It started leaking after heavy use with nuts and dates, and that type of thing. I bought this one as my replacement. I love it so far. Compared to the cheapest one Wal-Mart had, this one feels rugged, when you use it. It is SOLID. It is quieter than the last one I had, and definitely more powerful. You have to keep your hands on it though, while its working. But, that's a good thing to do with any blender. I like the fact that it has both blender and processor all in one. Saves counter space, and works great. Great for dorm, camper, small apartments, and even bigger homes. There are pricier ones out that, but I've never used anything higher priced than this one. I am satisfied with this one, and don't regret the purchase. I feel like I got a good value for my money.
Perhaps the negative reviewers put too much in at once, or didn't use enough liquid. I know when I first started using blenders, it took me a while before I knew the tips on how to get the most out of them.

I've used both the blender and food processor several times since I bought this last month. So far I love it! I especially love the food processor. It's powerful enough for what I need it to do (make smoothies, green drinks, peanut butter, hummus, etc). I realize it's on the cheaper side and that I'll probably have to replace it in a year or two, but it worked for my budget. I have noticed that it isn't the best at crushing ice and some frozen fruit, notably strawberries. Usually if I add some liquid (coconut/almond milk or water) it gets better. I have yet to make a truly smooth smoothie with it, but I'm also impatient.
Typical use: 2-3 times per week
Pros: food processor works very well, blender does crush ice...eventually, I like the glass blending pitcher, everything comes apart easily for cleaning (everything is also dishwasher safe)
Cons: there's still that burning smell after many uses (it goes away after a couple of pulses), lots of speeds that you'll probably never use (I would have really preferred a simple 2-speed blender, but it's hard to find a good one with an all-metal drive)
Overall, I haven't had the negative experiences of other reviewers and would recommend this product, but I also really did my homework before purchasing this blender (there are many other reviews of this product on other sites that may give you a better picture of how you'll like it).

I've never owned a rice cooker before this, however, I have cooked lots of rice over the years. Its an inexpensive rice cooker and if you follow the directions, it'll do fine.
Since moving to the mountains of Colorado, its taken me years to adjust to the lowered the boiling point due to the higher elevation (8300')... it takes more time (add ~10-20min) and the dry climate means using more water (for a 1 cup of dry rice, takes ~2.5+ cups water rather than 2cups). Still, there have been many times when rice just didn't work out the way I wanted.
So I mentioned that it would be nice to have a rice cooker and let it deal with the cook time. Of course I had done some research, and when this came in the mail as a present, I was a little nervous since Oster's seem to get so-so reviews. Well, I cooked my typical basmati rice, a 1/2 cup dry and added my typical 1c water plus extra, put lid on, pressed the button and went to do something else.
A lot of reviewers mention how the rice on the bottom gets over-cooked, sometimes brown or burnt. Some reviewers like the crunchiness, some hate it. Well, the directions tell you to stir the rice - especially the bottom of the cooker after 15 minutes. Sure enough, the rice at the bottom was starting to stick. I scraped it all loose, added another 1/4 cup water, chopped it up a little, put the lid on, and let fate take its course. Would the rice by a burnt mess? 20 minutes later we had the best sticky rice we've ever had!
Plus it seemed to cook faster. And I really liked that it went to 'warm' mode automatically. One major drawback: It spewed hot sticky water up under the lid and through the vent all over the kitchen but once we wiped the lid off (without picking up the lid), it settled down. If you are a neat freak or want a set-and-forgot, this rice cooker is not for you. And for me, I'll come up with a little steam catcher helmet and deal with the mess. For the price, its a good buy. And, I love the red color too!
[found this cool tip from Spyce: To help keep the starch from bubbling up and spraying out of the vent hole, rinse the rice thoroughly and drain. Heat a small amount of olive oil in the rice bowl, once the oil is heated, carefully add the rice and saute it for 3 to 4 minutes. Add the water and continue cooking.] I'm going to try this tip next time!
BTW, this cooker seems like a knock-off of the similar Rival rice cooker (both owned by Jarden]

I bought this thinking it would take up so much less space on my counter top than the other model I had in mind. I got home to use it and was so disappointed until I read a comment someone else made about a review. It did sputter and spit and shoot rice water on my counter and the rice seemed to stick-the trick is to add a little butter or oil of your choice and a little salt. Now it works like a charm! I usually add liquids and butter first, then the rice. I start it up an hour or two before I want to actually eat the rice, or even longer. I've let it run for 3-4 hours before. It keeps the rice nice and warm all that time. I use this about every day-we love rice and I just started a gluten free diet so I'm eating more rice instead of noodles. I'm glad I checked the reviews after the initial disappointment. This one is a keeper.

The Good: This has more interior space for baking than a typical toaster oven. The convection feature bakes quickly and fairly evenly. The Bad: Worst toaster I have ever encountered. BOTTOM LINE SUMMARY: This blender performs at least as well as blenders that cost 2-3 times as much, and it has more specific speed options than the more expensive blenders.
Before I begin my review, I should start out by saying that I am a bit of a blender snob, and I collect them for fun. My sole purpose in getting this blender was to see how it compared to a KitchenAid (KSB5ER4) and a Cuisinart (BFP-10CH). Also, this is an initial, first-time usage review - I will keep the review updated over time so I can attest for its longevity, consistency, etc.
That being said, I am very impressed with this blender. It is consistent with the quality that I expect from Oster. It blended the same Strawberry Banana Smoothie that I always make MUCH better than the 7-year old KitchenAid blender that I often use - no chunks whatsoever. I tested the ice crush feature, and it made mince meat out of ice in 2-3 seconds. In fact, I would dare say that it crushes ice perfectly, and faster than any of my other blenders. I also appreciate the Easy Clean feature - a definite bonus. I like the metal drive shaft MUCH better than the plastic teeth on the KitchenAid and Cuisinart - there is no guesswork as far as where/when to place the jar on top of the base; no teeth that could potentially break/wear (note: the teeth have never broken on my KitchenAid or Cuisinart, so I am just speaking about potentialities). The jar is designed for MUCH easier pouring than any other blender I have used. If you are at all concerned with the presentation/appearance of your blending results, this blender certainly delivers.
Why a 4-star instead of a 5? The plastic collar is much more fragile than other blenders I have used (also, more fragile than other Oster's that I have seen) - in fact, I haven't yet figured out how to get the collar off without breaking it. (Revision: I took a closer look at the bottom of the collar, and it has instructions for removing the collar - so, no problem there). :-)
The rest of my cons are very nit-picky and may not bother most people. There is no perfect manual, but I found the manual to be overly brief - in fact, I will probably find myself referring to my vintage '70s Osterizer pamphlets for hints - the manual and blender are largely for people who are already very familiar with blenders.
If anyone is familiar with the smell of a new blender motor, this blender (along with Cuisinart and Waring blenders) has that new motor smell if you let it run for more than 15 seconds. Personally, this does not bother me, but I have noticed that it makes some people nervous. My initial ice-crush experiment actually produced ice that was infused with the smell, but a few good cleanings should solve that problem.
The lid is not the best I have ever seen - It does have a removable cap in the center, but it is black and does not have measured lines like the Cuisinart.
Louder than the KitchenAid, but quieter than the Cuisinart.
Despite these minor things, I would highly, highly recommend this blender!

I love, love, love this blender! I bought a Kitchenaid blender about 10 years ago and hated it everyday that I owned it, it finally broke so I got to buy a new one. My mom owns this Oster blender and I tested hers out before I bought it. I can not tell you how much better this blender is compared to the Kitchenaid! I can make a blended Margarita in less than 30 seconds and the ice is so smooth! After 2 minutes on the Kitchenaid the ice would be uneven and still have very big chuncks in it. This is an awesome blender and it's a third of the price of the Kitchenaid.

Even after reading some of the poor reviews I decided to try the toaster on my own. In general I agree with the fact that the glass that faces the back of the handle could've been much better insulated or protected, however, as long as we keep in mind that this is an oven and should be handled with care I don't believe this is too much of a problem. The oven itself is a great machine. It heats up items thoroughly, the knobs seem to be of a good quality, it looks great in our kitchen, the convection fan is not loud, it is very roomy, and the price is not very high. As far as price goes, I reviewed some models of other brands that were in the $125.00 range which were, in my opinion, very comparable to this one in features, looks etc. I would definitely recommend this item to anyone.

I purchased this toaster on sale at Target. It looks nice and seemed to be just what I wanted. But it has an important design flaw. There is a strip of metal along the top of the glass door. This strip gets VERY HOT in a short time. When you use the handle to open the door, it is very easy to burn your fingers. The first time I used the toaster I got significant burns on all four fingers. I returned it to the store immediately. When my hand heals, I will look for a toaster oven that does not have metal parts right by the door handle. What were they thinking?

pretty much what you would expect for so cheap, o.k. for mixing drinks but not much more, very flimsy..........cheap but so was the price

My daughter and I purchased this to make smoothies for breakfast. The motor is not strong enough to really blend so you have to keep it running for a few minutes, states it is dishwasher safe but after a few washings the handle just cracked off. A replacement would be $16.99 and I paid a few dollars more for the whole unit. You get what you pay for when you try to save money on something cheap.
